Manual Lymph Drainage: MLD


Manual Lymph Drainage (MLD) is a very gentle form of massage but it is not an ordinary massage in such we do not target muscles. MLD brings relief and relaxation to the body, it’s main purpose is to support the lymphatic system by using very gentle massage movements to stimulate the lymphatic system.

Your Lymphatic System plays a key role in removing toxins from your body. When you Lymphatic system is out of whack it has a knock on effect on the whole body.

MLD: can be applied for traumatic bruising and swelling of painful joints and muscle oedema in arthritis or in general for those with poor mobility.

MLD: is very effective when used to alleviate sinusitis, acne, rosacea, and pregnancy related oedema.

MLD: Calms the sympathetic nervous system which is essential in treating stress related illnesses and accelerating the healing process.

MLD: leaves you deeply relaxed, can help support sleep issues, relieve constipation and generally aid digestion.

Lipoedema:

Is a chronic and hereditary condition. Lipoedema is an over production of fat cells affecting the legs and arms. The condition is painful to touch and almost exclusively effects only women. The feet and hands are unaffected.

Signs of Lipoedema

>Stemmers sign is always negative.

> The area is painful to touch.

>Easily bruised which takes days to heal.

> Lipoedema is symmetrical on both legs.

> Cuffs at the ankles.

With Lipoedema there is no lymphedema. Recommended support is compression garments and exercise.

It is recommended three HIIT exercise classes a week with walking 30 minutes a day.

Although Lipoedema is not affected by diet it is suggested you follow a healthy lifestyle.

Post Operative care;

MLD can assist in the recovery post op. Manual Lymph drainage can assist in the recovery post op as many patients are less mobile after surgery and MLD can support the lymphatic system to work more efficiently and drain excess fluid.
